Here are some things you can do to have a more sustainable closet right now without buying a single item.
Tip #1 - Digitize your closet
Something fun I have started doing is uploading pictures of items I own like clothing, shoes, and accessories onto Canva and creating outfit layouts. This has been a great way to look at all the items I have in my closet in one place. It's also easy to forget what you already own when it's not in your line of vision.
Doing this has helped me see how many ways I can style an item and has inspired me to be more creative in my outfit choices. I also have started uploading items I am thinking about purchasing to see how it would pair with items I already own.

I like to upload images of the item from the brand's website, but if I can't find the item online anymore then I find something that looks almost identical. If I can't find something even close to what I have in my closet, then I just take a picture of it with my camera. You can find background eraser apps for iPhone, but I usually use photoshop or tinywow.com.

Tip #2 - Learn how to wash and dry your clothes properly
This might seem like a given, but for a long time, I didn't look at the labels inside of my clothes to see how they should be washed properly. I'm guessing this might be some of you too. One of the number one ways you can sustain the life of a garment is by learning how to care for it properly.
Every item of clothing should have a care tag on the inside that tells you how to clean your garment. You can also do a quick google search to see what the icons on the clothing label mean.
Tip #3 - Fold your heavy knitwear
Hanging your knitwear pieces like cardigans and sweaters can make the shoulders stretch out over time because the heavy fabric weighs them down. Instead, fold your knitwear to avoid this.

Tip #4 - Don't stretch out your collar when handing something up
Instead of trying to insert a hanger by stretching the collar out and shoving it in there, try going from the bottom of the garment. I have been guilty of doing this in the past and it's a super easy habit to fix.
These are all simple habits and things you can do to increase the life span of your clothing items.
